On a covered Colorado or Canyon with visible leakage at the upper radiator inlet, GM identifies the hose assembly’s quick-connect lip seal—not the radiator—as the scoped cause. P3075 without a visible leak stays on the normal diagnostic path.

After the engine is stone cold and the correct pressure limit is known, a cooling-system pressure tester can make a slow seep visible and can verify the sealed repair. The AUTOOL SC301 is one practical example for that controlled step. SC301 can pressure-test a cooled compatible system and vacuum-fill it after repair using the correct adapter and GM limit; it cannot make a hot system safe, identify the leaking seal without inspection, authorize pressure above specification or make P3075 equal this hose fault.

This is a useful reminder that gravity moves evidence. Coolant on the radiator may have started higher at a fitting, so the first wet point—not the most expensive wet part—should lead the estimate. Approach the truck from cold inspection to traced leak, then from clean seal to one complete heat cycle. P3075 supplies context, but the physical leak path earns this repair.

Cool the engine completely

If the temperature warning appears, steam is visible or the reservoir suddenly empties, stop the engine and arrange a tow. Do not loosen a cap to ‘check pressure.’ Let the truck cool for several hours, confirm the upper hose is no longer hot or firm and use the owner’s manual for the correct cold-level check. Photograph the reservoir and any puddle before adding coolant. If emergency top-up is necessary, use the specified fluid and document the amount; mixing an unknown coolant can complicate the later repair and does not make continued driving safe.

Photograph level and residue before cleaning

Coolant dye or dried residue often travels down the radiator tank, crossmember or fan shroud. Begin above the stain and work upward with a light and mirror until the surface is dry. The first fresh wet ring at the upper radiator inlet matters more than a broad stained area below it. Clean only after the initial map is photographed, then apply the manufacturer’s cold pressure and watch the joint. Check the reservoir, cap, radiator seams, pump and other hose connections at the same time so a second leak is not hidden by the obvious one.

Follow the trail to the upper inlet

GM’s 25-NA-315 separates two situations. When P3075 is present and no coolant leak is visible, use normal Service Information diagnosis for the code. When the covered Colorado or Canyon has the characteristic visible leak at the upper radiator inlet and the quick-connect seal appears flattened or leaves residue, the bulletin points to the upper inlet hose assembly. Do not stretch this instruction to every P3075, every coolant loss or an unrelated leak elsewhere on the engine.

Separate P3075 with and without a visible leak

The seal lives inside the hose quick-connect, and the radiator spigot can be damaged while the old fitting is removed. First clean loose debris around the joint so none enters the system. Release the connector squarely using the current service procedure; do not twist, pry or grip the radiator neck as leverage. Once separated, inspect the hose seal and the spigot for scoring, chips, residue or a raised burr. A new hose cannot seal a neck damaged during removal, so stop and reassess before forcing the connection.

Release the quick-connect without damaging the spigot

GM specifies a smooth, clean radiator spigot. Wipe it with a clean lint-free material and remove seal debris without scratching the surface. Keep abrasive particles and shop rag lint out of the open radiator. Plug or cover openings if the repair pauses. Do not polish aggressively to make the metal or plastic look new; changing the sealing geometry can trade a small seep for a repeat leak. Photograph any damage that could change the repair scope and compare it with current SI before deciding whether the radiator itself now requires attention.

Clean the sealing surface dry

The bulletin specifically says not to use grease, lubricant or detergent on the connection. A product that makes assembly feel easier may attack the seal, trap contamination or keep the locking feature from seating as designed. Install the replacement hose dry and aligned, then push until the connector is fully retained according to the service procedure. Tug only as directed. Refit supports so engine motion does not pull sideways on the joint. Confirm the hose is not twisted, rubbing a sharp edge or contacting the fan.

Install the hose without lubricant

Refill with the specified coolant and method. Vacuum filling can reduce trapped air when the adapter, system condition and GM instructions allow it, but it is not a substitute for repairing the leak. With the engine still cold, pressure-test only to the current specification and hold long enough to inspect the upper connection and the rest of the system. A falling gauge needs an explanation; repeatedly pumping to chase the number can hide the rate and exceed limits. Clean all old residue so any new trace during verification is visible.

Pressure-check cold and recheck after one heat cycle

Complete the prescribed bleed and controlled warm-up while monitoring actual coolant temperature and heater operation. Allow a full cool-down, then recheck the reservoir level and upper connection. One dry cold pressure test and one dry heat cycle are a stronger result than an idle-only glance. Clear P3075 only after saving its original data, and verify whether it returns. If the code returns with no leak, go back to the normal code tree; if coolant continues to fall, expand the leak search rather than replacing the same hose again.

For the driver, the win is an estimate based on origin rather than appearance. Let the truck cool, preserve the level and residue, trace upward to the first wet joint and inspect the quick-connect seal. Then protect the radiator spigot, assemble it clean and dry, and verify through pressure and temperature cycles. That is how a hose fault stays a hose repair instead of becoming an unnecessary radiator.
