1. Ask a useful question

Do not post a full VIN, license plate, street address, phone number, credentials, private invoice, or another person’s information.

2. Answer with evidence

• Separate confirmed observations from assumptions and possible causes.
• Explain why a test matters, how to perform it safely, and what the result means.
• Do not treat a trouble code as automatic proof that a part has failed.
• Identify important vehicle differences and ask for missing information instead of guessing.
• Credit useful sources and do not copy protected manuals or subscription material.
• When a problem is resolved, share the confirmed cause, repair, and verification.

3. Put safety first

Clearly identify risks involving vehicle control, restraints, lifting, fuel, high current, rotating parts, refrigerant, and hybrid or EV high voltage. Recommend qualified help when a task requires specialist training, controlled lifting, rated equipment, programming access, or inspection of the actual vehicle. Never pressure someone to drive or perform work they believe is unsafe.

4. Be respectful and relevant

Challenge the evidence, not the person. Harassment, threats, hate, humiliation, sexual exploitation, disclosure of private information, and coordinated abuse are not allowed. Keep discussions relevant to the automotive question and explain the technical reason for disagreement.
