Freeze the Jeep’s height state

Do not keep commanding the vehicle upward. Repeated attempts can overheat a compressor or deplete the reservoir and battery, changing the original evidence. Do not crawl under a vehicle supported by air suspension. Use rated mechanical supports at approved lift points before any underbody inspection.

If a tire contacts the body, a line is damaged, the vehicle sits unevenly enough to affect control, or the system reports an overheat/failure state, arrange professional recovery. Follow Jeep’s transport guidance; an air-suspension vehicle may require a particular mode or tie-down method.

Check whether 08-138-25 applies

The bulletin names 2024 WL Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles equipped with the Quadra-Lift air suspension sales code. Record VIN and equipment. Read all modules with a supported scan tool before clearing anything. Save ASCM part number, software/calibration level, current and history DTCs, freeze data, commanded height, actual height states, and communication/voltage faults.

U0300 is a software-incompatibility code family; it does not name an air leak. If the Jeep matches the bulletin and its ASCM level requires the update, complete the programming through the specified dealer/service process with an approved stable-power supply. Stabilize voltage before software conclusions

Programming and air-suspension operation both depend on stable low-voltage power. Inspect the battery, terminals, grounds, and recent jump/start history. Test the installed battery by chemistry and rating, and use the stable supply specified for programming.

Low voltage can create module communication faults and disable height changes. A battery problem may be part of the case, but it does not prove U0300 is false or that a software update is unnecessary. Preserve the original code record, stabilize the foundation, and re-evaluate.

Do not run a compressor repeatedly from a weak battery. The resulting voltage sag and thermal protection can imitate additional faults.

Separate calibration from pneumatic loss

After software level is correct and codes are rechecked, observe one controlled height cycle under the owner/service-manual conditions. Compare commanded state with each height-sensor value, compressor command/current where supported, valve commands, reservoir status, and actual body movement.

An audible compressor is not proof of pressure. A vehicle that rises is not proof that it holds pressure. A lean is not proof that the visible air spring leaks.

Use pressure only after compatibility is proven

Pressure testing is a professional operation. Identify the exact circuit, normal pressure range, stored-pressure release procedure, fittings, adapters, contamination rules, and whether the system uses a closed gas charge. Generic shop air must never be introduced unless the manufacturer procedure explicitly permits it.

Secure and mechanically support the vehicle. Depressurize only by the service method. Connect rated equipment at the prescribed points, leak-check the setup, and compare left/right or supply/corner behavior only at the commanded state. A pressure difference can locate the next isolation step; it does not identify the failed component without valve and circuit context.

Use approved leak-detection methods on accessible lines and fittings. Do not spray unknown chemicals on sensors, wiring, brakes, or hot parts. Never loosen a pressurized line to “see if air comes out.”

Know when the vehicle must stay supported and still

Air springs can change height unexpectedly when a door closes, a module wakes, or a scan command is issued. Keep people and tools out of pinch zones. Disable automatic leveling by the exact service procedure; pulling a random fuse is not a substitute.

Height-sensor arms and brackets can be bent, disconnected, or installed incorrectly after suspension/body work. Inspect with the vehicle safely supported and compare sensor data before replacing an air spring. Calibration should follow repair only when Jeep service information requires it.

The owner’s manual may describe normal delays, mode limits, speed-related changes, or protection messages. Those conditions are not faults until they disagree with the documented behavior.

Verify several complete height cycles

Close the case in the same order it opened. Confirm correct ASCM software and configuration, clear only resolved codes, then perform the prescribed initialization/calibration. Run several complete height changes under controlled conditions and verify commanded and actual values agree.

Park on level ground for the specified leak-check interval and remeasure the same body points under the same load and temperature. Recheck for compressor overrun, abnormal noise, pressure loss, or a returning message. Road-test only after the vehicle has a normal stable ride height.

The repair passes when U0300 does not return, all corners respond correctly, the Jeep holds height, and the evidence identifies whether software, voltage, sensor/control, or pneumatics changed the outcome.
