B2F70-01 or B2F70-02 on a 2025 Nissan Kicks does not begin with buying a stop-lamp switch. Nissan NTB25-025 begins with a measurement: the clearance between the brake-pedal bracket and the contact end of the lower, manually adjustable brake-pedal-position switch. If it is outside 0.74–1.96 mm, correct the geometry, then erase and confirm the code before continuing deeper electrical diagnosis.
If the gap is correct or the code returns, a diagnostic multimeter can help check an identified low-voltage switch circuit under the ESM. The AUTOOL DM303 automotive multimeter is one possible instrument. It cannot measure the mechanical gap, identify the lower switch by itself, safely energize every circuit, clear codes, or replace Nissan’s confirmation procedure.
Put the millimeter card before the wiring card. The switch can be electrically capable yet report the wrong pedal state because its position is wrong.

Check brake-lamp behavior before touching the switch
With an assistant or a reflection, observe whether the brake lamps turn on promptly, remain on after release, flicker, or behave normally. Check whether the vehicle shifts out of Park as expected and whether cruise or driver-assistance messages are present. Record the original pedal position and any recent pedal, dash, collision or switch work.
If brake lamps do not illuminate reliably, do not drive in traffic. If they remain on, the vehicle can mislead following drivers and discharge the battery. Arrange safe repair.

Identify the lower manual-adjust switch
Nissan warns about naming because the lower switch can appear in service information as Brake Switch 1, Brake Pedal Position Switch or ASCD Switch. It is manually adjustable. The upper switch is self-adjusting.
Use the ESM illustration and physical location to identify the lower switch before measuring. Photograph both switches and the bracket without moving them. Adjusting the upper switch by mistake can create a new fault.
Measure the gap without moving the pedal
The specified clearance is between the brake-pedal bracket and the contact end of the lower brake-pedal-position switch. Measure in the brake-pedal state and method defined by current Nissan service data. Avoid side-loading the plunger or pulling the pedal, which changes the very gap being checked.

Use 0.74–1.96 mm only on this Kicks
If the clearance is wrong, readjust the lower switch as the ESM directs. Do not force the plunger, bend the pedal bracket, add spacers or rotate the switch without knowing its lock and adjustment method. Recheck the measurement after securing it.
Then inspect whether the brake lamps and pedal-related functions respond consistently. A corrected gap changes the switch’s relationship to pedal travel; it does not prove the wiring and switch contacts are perfect.
Before closing the trim, press and release the pedal several times while watching both the measured clearance and lamp response. The switch should stay secure rather than walking out of adjustment. If the bracket, stop pad, or switch mount is damaged, record that physical condition and use the ESM repair path; repeatedly dialing the switch around a damaged mounting point is not a durable correction.
Add electrical evidence only after geometry
When the gap is correct or the fault returns, consult the circuit diagram. Check power, ground, connector pin fit, signal transition and harness condition with proper back-probes. Compare the signal at pedal rest and at the specified applied position.
Do not inject battery voltage into an ECU signal circuit or pierce insulation casually. Continuity on a disconnected switch is only one state; a voltage-drop or live-signal test under the correct load may reveal a problem that an ohmmeter misses.
Let a returning code reopen the ESM
Nissan says to erase all DTCs and run the confirmation procedure after correcting the gap. If B2F70-01 or B2F70-02 recurs, continue with the ESM DTC diagnosis rather than readjusting the switch repeatedly.
That path may evaluate circuit opens/shorts, power, ground, switch operation, connector condition or control logic. Preserve the post-adjustment measurement and returning-code report so the next technician does not start over.
Verify lamps, interlock, cruise logic, and code state
Complete the Nissan confirmation procedure and check every function influenced by brake-pedal state: brake lamps at rest and apply, shift interlock, relevant cruise/driver-assistance behavior, warning lamps and scan data. Make sure the lamps turn off fully when released.
The repair is verified only when the mechanical clearance remains in range, the code does not return under its confirmation conditions and all pedal-state functions agree. A cleared code before the monitor runs is not a completed diagnosis.
