A 2016 Tiguan has intermittent window and locking faults after heavy rain. The front carpet feels dry on top, but the underlay near the A-pillar is damp and several low-mounted connectors show water tracks. Sunroof drains were recently serviced.
What leak path should be proven before replacing any module?

Remove enough trim to inspect the underlay and connector area safely, then use a controlled low-volume water test starting at the lowest suspected source. Check the sunroof drain connection, A-pillar grommets, door membrane and plenum drains one at a time. Adding water everywhere at once destroys the evidence.
Disconnect the battery according to the vehicle procedure before opening affected electrical connectors. Dry and evaluate terminals first; replace a module only if power, ground, network and internal damage tests support it after the leak is fixed.

The right-front sunroof drain hose had separated from its upper nipple, sending water behind the trim. Reconnecting and securing it stopped the controlled water test. Corroded connector terminals were repaired, and all comfort functions remained stable without replacing the module.
