A 2012 Tacoma sets a switching-valve stuck code on the first cold start after rain. The air pump runs and current is normal, but pressure response on one bank rises late. The hoses are intact and the valve command is present. Moisture marks are visible near the valve connector.

How can a sticking valve be separated from water-related connector resistance?

Graph command and pressure response for both banks from the same cold start. Measure voltage at the valve and ground drop while it is commanded, because an unloaded connector can look normal. Inspect terminal tension and water paths before removing the valve. If electrical delivery is full but the pressure response remains delayed, then verify valve movement or flow mechanically according to service information.

The cold enable condition matters; a warm bay test may not reproduce either moisture resistance or valve sticking.

The affected valve received only 6.7 V during the wet cold test because one connector terminal was corroded. After terminal and seal repair, both bank pressures rose together and the self-test passed through two rainy cold starts.
