A 2018 BMW with the B48 has a faint coolant smell and white residue at the small vent-line connector, but the hose itself looks intact. The residue returns after cleaning and a warm drive. Main hoses, pump area and radiator remain dry.
Should the complete hose be replaced, or can the connector seal be serviced separately?

Identify the line and part breakdown by VIN before disassembly; some connectors are serviced only with the formed hose. Pressure-test at the specified value while gently observing the connector—do not lever on hot plastic. Inspect the reservoir nipple for cracks and confirm the cap is not raising pressure beyond specification.
If fresh coolant starts inside the quick connector and the nipple is sound, replace the serviceable hose or seal specified by the catalog. Avoid generic O-rings whose material and dimensions are unknown.

Fresh dye started at the connector's internal seal, and the reservoir nipple passed inspection. The VIN catalog supplied the vent line as an assembly. After replacement and bleeding, the connector stayed dry through repeated heat cycles.
