Our repair orders usually store only the initial torque, even when the procedure adds multiple angle stages and a tightening sequence. That leaves no record of new bolt use, thread preparation or the final turns.

What compact format captures the important parts without slowing the job?

Record the service-information revision, fastener reuse rule, thread and seating condition, initial torque, each angle stage, sequence position and tool identification. For critical assemblies, note any bolt that felt abnormal and was replaced before continuing. A digital angle wrench can export results, but the technician should still confirm the starting point and sequence.

Do not convert torque-plus-angle into a guessed final torque. The angle controls additional stretch after seating, and a peak-torque number is not an equivalent specification.

We added a sequence grid with initial torque and two angle columns. On a cylinder-head job, the grid caught one skipped second-stage angle before the cover was installed. The correction was simple because the record was completed in real time.
