A bidirectional command moved the actuator—what does that actually prove?

Technicians sometimes write “actuator tested good” after hearing a click during an active test. The command proves some control path, but it may not prove flow, mechanical travel under load or feedback accuracy. We need consistent wording for active-test results.
How do you separate command, movement and system effect in the report?
Record the commanded state, control output, electrical response, position feedback and the physical system response as separate observations. For an EGR valve that means command percentage, current or duty, position change and MAP or combustion response. For a fan it means command, voltage, current, RPM and temperature or pressure effect.
A click proves only that something moved or struck a stop. Use language such as “command produced 1.2 A and 42% feedback, but no pressure change” so the remaining fault path stays visible.
We added four columns—command, electrical, feedback and system effect. The format immediately caught a purge valve that clicked and reported position but passed no flow. “Active test passed” would have missed it.
