One TPMS sensor disappears on cold mornings instead of reporting low pressure

A 2016 vehicle shows a TPMS system warning below about 5°C. Three wheel IDs continue reporting pressure and temperature, while the right-rear ID disappears completely for the first 20 minutes. Manual pressure is correct and the sensor returns once the tire warms. There is no receiver or antenna code.
Does the missing ID favor a weak sensor battery over an actual slow leak?
Yes. A pressure leak would normally leave the sensor communicating a lower value; loss of the entire ID that correlates with cold temperature is consistent with a weak internal battery or transmitter. Confirm the registered ID matches the wheel, trigger each sensor with the approved tool when cold, and compare signal strength or activation count if available.
Check for an RF issue by moving the wheel position only if the system requires relearn. Replace and relearn the individual sensor when it repeatedly fails cold while the others communicate normally.
The right-rear sensor would not trigger at 2°C but responded after warming indoors. A replacement sensor was registered in that position and reported through three cold starts. Manual pressure remained unchanged, confirming there was no tire leak.
