Reduced-power event shows a brief throttle-position correlation dropout

A 2016 Escape enters reduced power over sharp bumps. Both accelerator-pedal signals remain matched, but throttle position 2 drops for 40 ms while position 1 stays smooth. The event can be reproduced by moving the throttle connector upward, although a simple terminal-to-terminal continuity test passes.
How should terminal tension and the shared reference be checked without damaging the connector?
Use the specified terminal test probe or drag gauge rather than inserting a meter lead. Compare grip at each terminal, inspect secondary locks and backprobe both throttle signals, 5 V reference and low reference while gently loading the harness. If only one signal drops while shared circuits remain stable, focus on that terminal and conductor.
A continuity beep carries almost no load and may miss a cracked crimp. Capture the dropout at the module and component sides if needed, then repair with the approved terminal rather than bending the contact.
The TP2 signal terminal had noticeably less drag and its conductor was fractured at the rear crimp. Replacing the terminal and securing the harness eliminated the dropout through repeated bump-road tests. No throttle body was required.
