Technicians often paste every freeze-frame field but do not explain why the code set at idle, cold start or highway load. We are revising reports so the snapshot guides the first test.

What core values do you translate into a short diagnostic sentence?

Start with engine state: RPM, load, speed, coolant and intake temperature, loop status, voltage and time since start. Then add system-specific values such as trims for mixture codes, commanded and actual pressure for boost or fuel codes, and module voltage for communication faults. Note whether related codes share the same timestamp.

Translate the data: “P0171 set hot at idle with +24% correction, while cruise trims are normal” points toward a different first test than a lean code at 70% load. Preserve the raw frame as well as the interpretation.

The revised report starts with a one-sentence condition summary and attaches the full frame below it. On a pressure code, that sentence revealed the event occurred during deceleration, changing the first test from pump volume to sensor plausibility.
