OBD2SCAN aims to publish automotive information that is accurate, useful, understandable, and honest about uncertainty. Articles should help readers make better diagnostic and repair decisions without presenting general information as a vehicle-specific inspection.

2. Sources and evidence

We prefer current manufacturer service information, standards, regulator and recall information, technical documentation, repeatable measurements, and well-documented repair evidence. Important claims should be traceable to an appropriate source or clearly identified as practical experience, analysis, or an unresolved possibility.

Sources are selected for relevance and reliability, not simply because they rank highly or repeat a common claim.

3. Diagnostic standards

• Identify the vehicle, market, powertrain, system, or other limits that affect applicability.
• Separate symptoms, codes, observations, likely causes, confirmed causes, and repair results.
• Explain useful tests and what different results would mean.
• Do not treat a trouble code as proof that a named component has failed.
• Include safety warnings and recommend qualified help when the work exceeds typical tools or training.

4. Review and updates

Content is reviewed in proportion to its safety, technical complexity, and potential impact. Updates may be made when specifications, procedures, product details, laws, recalls, or stronger evidence change. A publication or update date does not guarantee that every external source remains unchanged.

5. Corrections

We correct material errors as clearly and promptly as practical. Small spelling or formatting edits may be made without a note. Significant corrections may include an updated date or explanation when that context helps readers.

To report an error, send the article URL, the statement at issue, the relevant vehicle context, and a reliable source or measurement through the contact page.

6. Reviews and commercial relationships

Product coverage should explain relevant test conditions, limitations, and the basis for conclusions. Material sponsorships, free products, affiliate relationships, or other commercial interests should be disclosed where a reasonable reader would consider them important. Commercial relationships do not purchase favorable conclusions.

7. Community and AI-assisted content

Community questions and answers are user contributions and are governed by the Community Guidelines. They are not presented as OBD2SCAN editorial conclusions unless separately reviewed and identified.
