Cookie Policy
This policy explains how OBD2SCAN uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security, preferences, saved actions, and site improvement.
Last updated: August 26, 2026
1. What these technologies do
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local and session storage let a browser remember information on a device. OBD2SCAN uses these technologies to provide requested features, protect accounts, remember choices, and understand whether site content is useful.
2. Technologies currently used
| Category | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in and security | Maintain a secure session, remember a sign-in when requested, and help prevent abuse. | Session-based; a remembered sign-in may last longer. |
| Community preferences | Remember recently viewed discussions, display choices, timezone, and similar Community settings. | Session-based or up to about 90 days. |
| Guest article actions | Recognize a browser for guest reactions, saved actions, and abuse prevention without exposing the identifier publicly. | Up to one year. |
| Article views and site improvement | Avoid repeatedly counting the same article view and measure limited interactions used to improve search and content recommendations. | About 24 hours for view counting; interaction records follow the retention periods in the Privacy Policy. |
| Browser preferences | Remember navigation state, locally saved items, and unfinished interactions on that device. | Until cleared, or until the browser tab or session ends. |
3. Third-party content
OBD2SCAN does not currently use third-party behavioral advertising cookies or third-party web analytics. An embedded video, image, document, or externally hosted avatar may still contact another provider, which may use its own cookies under its own policy.
4. Your controls
You can block or delete cookies and clear browser storage through your browser settings. Blocking essential sign-in, security, or Community technologies may prevent those features from working. Clearing browser storage resets preferences and locally saved information on that device.
If OBD2SCAN presents a separate consent control, that control applies to the technologies it describes. You can change future consent choices where the control is available.
5. Changes
We may update this policy when site features or legal requirements change. The Privacy Policy explains how related personal information is used and how to contact us.
