Terms of Use

These terms govern access to OBD2SCAN articles, search, accounts, saved vehicle records, comments, and Community features.

Last updated: August 26, 2026

1. Agreement

By accessing or using OBD2SCAN, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and any rules that apply to a feature, including the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

You must be legally able to accept these terms. Minors may use the site only with the permission and supervision required by local law.

2. Automotive information

OBD2SCAN provides general educational information. We do not inspect your vehicle, provide emergency or roadside service, or guarantee a diagnosis, fitment, repair, or result. Confirm information against the correct current service information, recalls, laws, and actual vehicle conditions. The Automotive Information & Safety Disclaimer is part of these terms.

3. Accounts

  • Provide accurate registration information and keep your contact email current.
  • Protect your credentials and report suspected unauthorized access.
  • Do not sell, transfer, automate, or create accounts to evade moderation, security controls, or a suspension.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account except where applicable law provides otherwise.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of original content you submit. You give OBD2SCAN a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, format, display, distribute, and adapt that content as reasonably needed to operate, secure, moderate, promote, and improve the site. This license may continue for public posts that remain part of a discussion, subject to applicable deletion rights.

You must have the right to submit your content. Do not post copied service manuals, subscription material, credentials, private records, or another person’s personal information without authorization.

5. Acceptable use

You may not post unlawful, deceptive, harassing, hateful, threatening, exploitative, privacy-invasive, infringing, or dangerously misleading content. You may not distribute spam or malware, manipulate votes or engagement, impersonate others, bypass security or access controls, overload the site with automated requests, or encourage unlawful emissions tampering, theft, fraud, or safety-system disabling.

6. Moderation and account action

We may label, edit for clarity or privacy, move, limit, close, remove, or preserve content and may restrict or suspend accounts when reasonably needed to enforce rules, protect people, investigate abuse, or operate the site. Moderation is not guaranteed and does not make OBD2SCAN responsible for every user submission.

7. OBD2SCAN content

Except for user-owned submissions and identified third-party material, OBD2SCAN’s branding, design, software, compilation, and original editorial content are owned by or licensed to OBD2SCAN. You may read, link to, and quote limited portions for lawful personal use or commentary with attribution. Republishing substantial content, systematic extraction, or commercial reuse requires permission unless law independently allows it.

8. Third-party services

Links and embedded resources may lead to independent services. OBD2SCAN does not control their availability, accuracy, security, products, or privacy practices. A link does not necessarily mean endorsement, and your dealings with a third party are between you and that party.

9. Disclaimers and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of accuracy, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or results.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OBD2SCAN and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost data or profits, vehicle damage, injury, or costs arising from reliance on content or inability to use the site. Rights and liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited remain unaffected.

10. Changes and contact

We may change, suspend, or discontinue a feature and may update these terms. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue.
