Ask four questions
1. What happens if I am wrong?
A trim clip and a brake hydraulic fitting do not have the same consequence. Rate the failure risk before the learning opportunity.
2. Can I access it safely?
Consider lifting, stored energy, heat, chemicals, high voltage, pressurized systems, and whether the vehicle can remain disabled.
3. Do I have the information?
You may need wiring diagrams, calibration steps, torque sequences, scan functions, and one-time-use hardware—not just a video of a similar model.
4. How will I verify it?
A repair is unfinished until leaks, codes, fasteners, fluid levels, alignment, operation, and road behavior are checked as applicable.
