Fuel Injector (2GR-FXE Bulletin Context)

Component reference for the six injectors inspected and conditionally replaced under Lexus L-SB-0045-12 Rev1.

Overview

A fuel injector meters fuel into the engine according to the control strategy. In L-SB-0045-12 Rev1, the injector is not presumed faulty from a misfire DTC. The workflow reaches injector inspection only after the applicable misfire diagnosis finds no mechanical-engine, engine-control, ignition or fuel-supply concern.

The bulletin then calls for visual inspection of the injector tips for debris. A positive debris finding leads to replacement of all six injectors using the applicable model-year repair procedure; a negative finding exits the bulletin and returns the vehicle to normal diagnosis. This conditional boundary is part of the component record.

Function and location

Function
Meters fuel for engine operation under control-module command.
Typical Location
Engine fuel-delivery assembly; use the applicable model-year repair information for safe access.
Failure Modes
Within this source only: visible debris at injector tips after other listed diagnostic areas show no concern.

Testing and safety

Test Methods

Complete the applicable misfire diagnosis first. If the bulletin’s decision gate is met, remove the injectors using current service information and visually inspect the tips for debris.

Expected Measurements
The bulletin provides a visual debris decision rather than a universal electrical or flow specification; obtain model-year limits from current Lexus service information.
Safety Notes
Fuel-system work and hybrid-vehicle service require correct depressurization, fire prevention, personal protection, high-voltage awareness, approved tools and current service procedures.
